Group Leader: Stephen

We meet at Heath End Village Hall on the 2nd Tuesday of the month from 2.30pm - 4.30pm.

Having restarted in September 2021, we have seen several new members join us which is very pleasing. Not only does this keep the group viable but also means that we are able to take advantage of their knowledge and aviation background, either from working in the industry or from their interest in what is really a very absorbing hobby. It's good to be able to welcome you to the group.

We have managed to reintroduce monthly visits to places of aeronautical interest. Recently we have visited the museum at RAF Tangmere, and toured the cold war Control Tower at Greenham Common. Remaining visits planned for this year include the Bournemouth Air Festival, the centrifuge installation at Farnborough, and Aerospace Bristol which includes possibly the best Concorde presentation in the country.

We have also listened to talks from several aviation speakers including Tom Lecky-Thompson who told us about his achievement in winning the Daily Mail London to New York Air Race in 1969. Most recently we heard Graham Laurie MVO who told us about the History of Royal Flying and his role as a pilot in the Queen's Flight until his retirement in 2000.
