Walking

Status:Active, open to new members
Coordinator:
Group email: Walking group
When: Monthly
On the second Monday of the month
Venue: Various locations

We average about 14 members on each walk. We are more than happy to welcome anyone new.

We travel, at most, about 30 minutes to the start of our walks. We start at 10.00 am but earlier in the summer. The walks are generally between four and seven miles and may involve walking on all types of terrain including wet, muddy and uneven ground. There may be stiles and inclines.

Two of us take turns at leading the walks but note that anyone is welcome to volunteer!

We must remind you that all walkers are responsible for their own health and safety and should ensure they are fit enough to complete the walk without harm to themselves or inconvenience to others.

It is recommended that walkers dress appropriately for the weather conditions including stout shoes or walking boots.

Well behaved dogs are welcome on walks, although must be on leads near livestock or at the discretion of the walk leader. Owners are responsible for clearing up after their animal.

Please contact the Group Leader, Maureen, if you would like to join the group. In your email to her please provide a contact number and an emergency contact number. Please ensure your Tadley & District u3a membership is up to date before you make a request to join the Walking Group.

April 2026. Starting from Pangbourne, we did a 6 mile loop to Sulham Woods, where it was lovely to see the bluebells.
March 2026. Our 4.5 mile walk was around Englefield, Theale and the Hamlet of North Street. Englefield House can be seen in the background of the picture.
February 2026. 19 of us tried out this 5.5 mile walk around Silchester and Englefield. It is a challenge to find a walk that is not too muddy but we managed!
January 2026. 12 of us took part in the first walk of the year. The 6 miles walked had a varied landscape and started at Crookham Common.

December 2025. We all enjoyed the last walk of the year from Woolhampton, followed by a lovely lunch at The Rowbarge. Merry Christmas everyone.

September 2025. 16 of us enjoyed a lovely 5.5 mile walk round Upton Grey followed by coffee at the Village Shop cafe.
